I want to add a red dot scope to an H&K model 93. With a claw mount do I still need a picatinny rail on top?
I see it mentions it accepts a Stanag scope. I would like to mount a red dot or CQT Leopold scope. The claw mount looks like it needs a picatinny rail to accept thoose type of mounts. Im not familar with Stanag.
STANAG is a NATO standards agreement organization.
STANAG Agreement #2324: The adoption of the US MIL-STD-1913 "Picatinny rail" as the NATO standard optical and electronic sight mount and standard accessory rail.
The Picatinny rail is a bracket used on some firearms in order to provide a standardized mounting platform for telescopic sights and other accessories such as tactical lights and laser sighting modules. The standard was first published by the Picatinny Arsenal and carries the official title MIL-STD-1913. It is also known by the NATO designation STANAG 2324.
BTW, this is a total ripoff of the Weaver rail, as it's only slightly modified from the Weaver.
On the HK 93, I think you need a rail or claw mount. Check with gunaccessories.com, they sell a lot of these and can tell you right off what you need. they have always been very helpful.
