Adding sights to a H&R shotgun?
I was looking for a method to add possibly a red dot scope(looking at a short weaver type scope mount) to my older h&r 20 gauge shotgun (modified choke) (factory , not able to change the barrel)....I am happy with the accuracy of the slug/shotgun setup I use,(can hit a paper plate at 30 yards all the time) however I would like to be able to go to 50 yards ...(that would be the limit for accuracy for that gun...)
I have seen very nice shotgun/slug combo setups at the range all the time, but in this neck of the woods, in the field/check station though, it's always someones old trusty shotgun, with the beat up stock and very little bluing left on the barrel that I see being used....

Barrel mounts like that aren't rare. In fact, they're becoming more and more common the more folks find out that shotguns are fun.
Inlet your forearm to clear the mount and the forearm will serve to keep it securely in place. A piece of thin rubber sheet wrapped around the barrel helps, too. If you need a longer rail, use two back to back.
