Sight rail confusion, does it fit?
Ok, I have a paintball gun,Tippmann 98. I bought a red dot sight for the gun, and tried to mount it, but it didn't fit. I looked around a bit on the internet to see if there were any adapters that fit directly to the gun. Everyone says that scopes and sights only fit on picatinny rails, but I looked at some pictures and the picatinny rail wouldn't fit the scope either. And the rails look like they have the same bottom as the scope, so I'm worried that the rail won't fit on the gun, AND that the sight won't fit on the rail. The tippmann has a dovetail rail built onto the top of it, (PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong or tell me if I'm right) so I've been looking around for dovetail to picatinny adapters that also add a bit of height. So what fits what?
Also, im going to sell the dot sight and get a scope, either a 4x scope or a 3x-9x scope, not for accuracy, because that wont help at all on a paintball gun, but for target spotting in woodsball, because the course is really long.
well,try asking the clerk from the place you got the Tippmann 98.and ask him or anyone who builds one to have them help you and try to find the right scope. FYI:you were a little bit in between right and wrong
