Short Rifle Scope
i don't know where my dads rifle is?

my father passed away last February some short time after he purchased a new Remington rifle, i have the owners manual with proof of purchase stickers on back of manual, not sure if that would. i am assuming that he dropped it off at a shop or hunting/ gun store for work or a scope mount..... anyway, if he did leave it with a business, how can i go about locating it? i live in the Nevada area if that's relevant

Please don't be offended by what I'm about to say but....
Sometimes when someone passes away, family members and friends swoop in, like vultures, to get what they want.
Before my Grandfather passed away and while he lay dying in his bed, my cousins were moving things out of his house. When I asked them what they were doing they said "well if we don't get it now, someone else will take it". I was so angry that I kicked them out of the house.

It is very possible that someone took the rifle before anyone else could get it.

If he did leave the gun at a gun shop all you need is a copy of the death certificate.
You might need to take the gun/hunting shop to court to have them release the gun to you if they won't do it. (Sometimes you need to prove that you are the executor of the estate to acquire property post mortem)
