lincoln LS 3 cylinders misfiring...?
Ok, 2000 lincoln LS with the 3.0L V-6
pulled four codes off this car, bank two catalytic code
and misfires on cylinder 2, 4, and 5.
I am hesitant to start pulling off this intake and checking my plugs because I don't have all data anymore, and I don't have a scope, all I have is my obd 2 scanner, and a digital multi meter.
Is there a way to back probe the coils and take a reading on a digital multi? I am not ruling out the injectors but I have noid lights for them...
thoughts? Suggestions? Online manuals? can anyone give me a five minute crash course in lincoln V-6's???
I cleared the codes and now the MIL is off but the scanner still says a misfire on cylinder 4.
I am looking for vacuum leaks and found the crankcase ventilation system all messed up but still no help with the single cylinder misfire.
I'd check the simple things first.
A misfire dosn't mean you have no spark, it just means the fuel/air is not igniting.
Use a good screwdriver in the spark plug boot held near ground and check for spark while someone cranks the engine.
If there is a vacuum line on the intake that has come off, it may be causing a lean condition in those cylinders causing a misfire.
You may have a bad brake booster sucking air.
Is you EGR valve stuck open?
Eliminate the simple things first......
