Have a Rock River Ar-15 and will be putting a scope on it....?
...but I was seeking opinions on how I should mount it. Should I just remove the rear site and mount it on the factory installed picanny rail, or should I buy a riser and mount it on it just to get the scope a little higher? What do you have, or do most people have. Reason I'm asking what people have is because I can see that I'm eventually going to sell it just because I don't know if I can get use to it. I own lots or rifles and pistols, but those military type guns do get take a little to get use to them. They just feel sort of awkward. If I do eventually sell it I think I could get a higher price if I have it "set up" like the majority of people would like.
Best bet is to go with a flip up front and rear sight, and use the rail to mount a scope as low the the axis of the barrel as possible. This will make it shoot more accurate, and add value to the firearm. But my advice is DO NOT SELL IT YET!!!! once the new assault weapons ban goes into effect, prices will rapidly start to climb, and it will be a sellers market.
Shoot safe
