What all do I need to mount a scope on a BRAND NEW marlin 795?
Ok, heres what my "setup" will be:
1-A Marlin 795 .22LR, NO AFTERMARKET STUFF, just brand new out of the box
2-A Bushnell 4-12x40 Banner Rifescope
3-Weaver Tip-Off Mounts

Alls i want to know is if the rings will go DIRECTLY onto the grooves that are manufactured into the rifle, or if ill have to buy special rails to fit that groove, THEN put rails on the special rails.? sorry if its confusing but im confused
Most 22's have grooved receivers. they do not prevent rearward motion as do Weaver style bases. You need to go to a sporting goods store an learn the difference.In addition to the grooves some 22's are also tapped to take Weaver style mounts with a cross bolt to prevent movement. There is nothing wrong with the grooved mounts,the Weaver are better and used on larger calibers. I use the Weaver on most of my 22's,when possible. If I can't use Weaver I make small chisel slits in the grooves to prevent movement. That means marring the rifle in an unseen place,when a scope is mounted,take off the scope and........
