DPMS AR-15 Carry Handle Scope?

I bought the DPMS AR-15 w/ carry handle. I know I can get an adapter to mount a scope TO the carry handle, but this looks odd to me. Can I remove the carry handle and mount a scope? Will I have to change anything else on the gun, like adding some sort of rail where the handle used to attach?



First i need to know if it is an A2 or A3

A2 : is not a flat top and the handle can NOT be removed
There is an adapter to mount the scope and yes you are correct it does look awkward.

A3: is a flat top and the handle CAN be removed. Remove the carry handle and use a half inch riser to mount the scope for proper cheek weld and so the scope bell clears the hand guard.
