A laser range finder is a device which uses a laser beam to determine the distance to an object by pulse. Laser range finder can be lightweight and small enough to fit in a shirt pocket. This makes it a favorite with bow and gun hunters and golfers. You know the exact distance to your target from five to 800 yards. Some of the more popular range finders are made by: Bushnell, Nikon, Leupold and NCStar. to mention a few.

They make a Digital Laser Range Finding Binocular also. They can be in a camouflage pattern, black, brown and many other colors and finishes, such as matte - glossy - silver. They can measure distance from a few feet out to 1,500 yards. Don't forget the cleaning cloth to keep the lens free of dust and dirt, which will effect the measuring of the range finder. Keep and extra battery on hand.
Lasers range from a class 1 (no hazard during normal use) to class 4 (severe hazard for eyes and skin). Laser range finders for consumers are a class 1 device and are considered eye safe.
*A class 1 laser is safe under conditions of normal use. This permissible exposure cannot be exceeded.
*A Class 1M laser is safe for all conditions of use except when passed through magnifying optics such as microscopes and telescopes
*A Class 2 laser is safe because the blink reflex will limit the exposure to no more than 0.25 seconds. Many laser pointers are class 2.
*A Class 3B laser is hazardous if the eye is exposed directly
*A Class 4 laser includes all lasers with beam power greater than class 3B. By definition, a class-4 laser can burn the skin, and can cause permanent eye damage as a result of direct or diffuse exposure. Industrial, scientific, military, and medical lasers fall in this category.

Range finders can be a use full tool on the golf range, when used in practice it may improve your handicap. It is very use full in bow or rifle hunting, distancing your target. You can find and fairly inexpensive one to the pricey with all the bells and whistles. Read the instructions get familiar with your device. Keep the lens clean and free of dirt it will pay off and give you many years of service.
