I have a question on scope rings?
I recently bought a set of scope rings for my winchester model 121, the only problem is that the scope rings are to wide to fit in the grooves carved onto my gun (for mounting a scope). Am I going to need a custom made set of rings or do they make rings with a 1 cm mounting base?
I was also wondering if bass pro shops will take back the ones i just bought and refund the money?
The Winchester 121 single shot bolt action rifle was made from 1967 to 1973 and should have 3/8" dovetail grooves for scope rings. If the rings you have do not tighten down to that size you will need a new set of rings. Check the package before purchase but any rings made for rim-fire rifles should work. Also check the scope tube diameter; the rings need to accommodate the tube of the scope. Too large will not hold the scope securely, too small will crush the scope tube and render it useless, if you can even get the scope into the rings.
Happy shooting and be safe!
