Best scope for a mini 14 model 580?
I have the 1 "Leapers Weaver Base Scope Mount With Scope Rings For Ruger Mini-14. I also have a leapers scope 10x-41mm. Could I do better or should I stick with what I have. Budget is $250.
scope I have now is actually a 3-10x-40mm w/ mil dots and focus adjustment from 6 yds, so I guess it's good for the range my gun has.
A 3-9X40MM is perfect for that rifle.........

I have one of these on one of my Ruger Mini 14 rifles.... The eye relief is a little longer so my face is back away from the action farther......

This Leupold is a little better quality and has an eye relief that lands right between the 2 Nikon's eye relief specs......

I would not bother with a more powerful scope -- Anything with more power would see beyond the capabilities of the Ruger Mini 14 rifle -- Yes I know - The 580 series is more accurate but it still is a carbine more well suited for close range shots.....
The only other scope to consider is a 3-9x50MM.... You would get a wider field of view but would have to get extra high scope rings....
