Selecting a scope mount?
Trying to pick out a scope mount for my Remington 700 SPS 30-06.
I am looking at : Leupold Standard Mount Bases
I don't know if I should get a 1-PIECE or 2-PIECE.
I saw one thing on Leupold's site... It said "STD 2-Piece bases offer maximum accessibility to the breech area of your rifle."
Is there any advantages/disadvantages of either style?
With a Remington rifle the breach access will never be an issue that you should be concerned with. A one piece Leupold base offers the advantage of some additional limited forward and backward adjustment for the eye relief on your scope, and of the two the most "solid" base. A one piece mount is also recommended because of the fact that with a 30-06, it will provide the most recoil resistance to keep you mounted scope tight, along with limiting the possibility of the base shooting "loose"... Solid Base=Accuracy.....
