I just got a scope for my ruger 10/22 and I am wondering what brand bore sighter I should buy to set it up, My local gun store said they would set it up for me for $40 but I think I should just put that money towards a bore sighter to do it myself, I was looking a lite site sl-100, its about $100, what do you guys think I shoud do?
I agree with the answer to buy the inexpensive BSA bore sight kit. Even if it is a .22, it's smart and correct to start out hitting on the paper when you sight a gun in.
I've got a Bushnell bore sight similar to the BSA model that I've had for over 20 years. It's been used on countless guns and it's been nice to be hitting within a few inches at 50 yards the first shot that's fired after boresighting.
Also, your local store is seriously hosing you when they offer to boresight for $40.00! Spend the $25.00 on the BSA model and you'll be able to use it the rest of your life.
