Hunting Scope Mount
Which height of scope rings should I buy?

I'm going to mount a SWFA SS 10x42 30mm scope on my Browning BAR. I know it doesn't seem like the ideal scope for a hunting rifle, but I am going to eventually mount the scope on a Remington 700 5-R when I get the money for it. Can any experienced shooters tell me which height of scope rings I should buy? There are 1/4 inch, 1/2 inch, 3/4 and 1"... I have no clue how I am supposed to know which ones to get! Please help, thanks.



With a 30mm lens I would guess a low to a medium would be fine. 40mm lens generally take a medium as a 50mm needs high rings. The key is to just have the end of your scope off of the barrel.
