Scope Mounting Question?
I am buying a Leupold VX-III scope from Cabela's for my .30/06. It has a 40 mm Objective Diameter. I am thirteen want to mount the scope as low as possible so I can see through the scope while my cheek is resting on the comb. How high of a scope mounting ring should I buy? The sizes are super low, low, medium, high, and super high.
The rifle is a pre- 64 Winchester Model 70
To be completely honest with you, it would depend on the rifle model itself. More than likely you will need high rings, however some rifles like the browning line have high recievers which allow lower mounts. Chances are you will be needing high rings for 40mm-50mm and super high for 50mm+. Ofcourse using high mounts instead of med would only raise the scope around an 1/8 of an inch. Theres no way that will make or break you in the scope to eye line.
Good Luck, nice choice of scope by the way !!!!!!!!!!!
