Would a bipod also be good for this gun? I'm hoping to hit pop cans at about 40-50 yards away.

Great gun for so much more than plinking. It is a bit heavy. I've had one about 6 months now. A bipod will make things worse. Get a leather shooting rest (bean bag) or use a rolled up towel instead.
