New Marlin XL7 rifle with Pentax Gameseeker 3x-9x scope. keeps shooting right.?

I just bought a Marlin XL7 30-06 and added a Pentax GamesSeeker variable scope. Today at the range the rifle kept shooting to the right. Even after I'd dial it in for center, my shots would keep migrating to the right. What's going on?

Al is right. But also understand that if you have the XL7 in a synthetic stock that you do have two (2) pads and the end of the forearm that do make contact with the barrel. This shouldn't have any effect on your zero, but if the synthetic stock is touching anywhere else along the barrel then you need to do what Al has suggested.

But also make sure about the scope as well. More often that tends to be the problem. Make sure all mounting screws are tight. I used lock tite on my mounting base screws when I installed the weaver base. The scope rings I did not use lock tite, but did insure that the scope mount screws were good and tite.

I have the XL7 in 25-06. Just bought it two weeks ago and topped it off with a Center Point scope. Thought I would give those a try. For 70 dollars it isn't a bad scope at all. Comes with turrent adjustments for windage and elevation, illuminated crosshairs, flip up scope covers and mounts that fit weaver style bases like those that come with the XL7.

I fired 20 rounds through my 25-06 (which is a 30-06 necked down to a 25 caliber bullet) with no issues at all. Checked at 50 yards then out to 100 yards. Three shoot groups in the 10 ring that cut each other.

I am very pleased with my XL7, and it has the synthetic stock.
