Eotech Holographic Sight Scope
AR15/M16 optics question?

What's the difference between a red dot sight and an EOTech holographic sight?
Why would you want one or the other or an aCOG scope instead? Are any of these better than just relying on iron sights?
Note: Real life, not Call of Duty or whatever.



A CCO or M68 is a red dot site optic. It is not very reliable to SOME. It just puts the little red dot on a target and to SOME it is not very accurate but this comes down to the shooter more than anything.
People in Combat Arms prefer the EOTECH cause you can crack the lens and it still be just as accurate. The ACOG however is a 2-4 power scope. It does not require batteries and is illuminated through a fiber wire that runs along the side and top of the scope. There are some new scopes that the military is using that is an ACOG that can be switched from two to four power magnification and from red luminescence to green. It pretty much boils down to you and your preference and your shooting skills.
