What's a good, inexpensive rifle scope for a .22 cal rifle?

I just bought a Ruger 10/22 carbine for cheap target shooting practice. I'd like to get a scope for it, but don't want to pay more than about $100 for it. I'd prefer to buy an American brand, not Chinese. I don't really know anything about scopes since this is my first rifle, so any advise would be appreciated.



Not many are US made anymore. You could get a used Weaver or Redfield, they had some US made scopes. That said, two (good scopes) that come to mind that I have used and liked: 1.Simmons, Newer 8 point (3x9x40) 2.Bushnell (older, Japanese made) Sportview (3x9x32). Both of these stood up to larger rifles(30-06 and .50 caliber blackpowder, 150 grain charge) and never, ever failed me. They are low-end work horses. If you want to spend a little bit more, then I would go to ebay and buy a Bushnell, Trophy 3x9x40. It can be had by bidding for less than 55.00, and shipping. Seen a few this week. The previous two scopes mentioned went for about 20.00-35.00. The Simmons brand is all over ebay, but you will have to seek out the Japanese made Bushnell Sportview (used). These arent made (new) in Japan anymore.
